Lost Thought

By Duane Anderson

Something finally showed up
after a too long of time,
knocking at the door to my mind,
a thought, patiently waiting
for me to open it up
before disappearing,
lost and forgotten,
like the many before it,
but once again, not quick enough.

We do not talk any more.
I do not understand his language.
Dots and dashes,
dashes and dots.
I have no antenna
or radio
to receive his messages.
He speaks in Morse code.
He may as well speak
the language of the apes.
